Being thankful is a choice – did you know that?
It’s so easy to focus on the things that we perceive are wrong with our lives – the things we don’t have, what we lack, what we’re settling for.
Now, you know me, I’m not one for settling for less than what I want in my life – those things I can change I do change. I don’t have circumstances, people or things in my life that don’t add to my life. I speak up when I believe the status quo needs shaking up. I challenge people to be authentically themselves and to live their best possible lives – that’s what I was born to do. I defintely don’t settle.
There are some things in my life, though, that I wish I could change – I simply can’t. One of my children was born with a distressing condition that makes her feel very, very sad at times; this condition is heartbreaking for her and I can’t change it. But what I can do is to love her, support her, encourage her, empower her and be so very thankful for the person that she is and the wonderful difference she makes in my life. If she wasn’t who she is, I wouldn’t be who I am; our family wouldn’t be what it is – and it’s pretty damned amazing!
According to the universal Law of Attraction, we attract more of what we focus on. I choose to focus on how wonderful my life is and how blessed I am to share my life with the three amazing people I’m privileged to call my family. Despite my many imperfections & failings, I also choose to focus on my strengths & my gifts and making my difference, by actively being the source of what I want more of – however ill equipped I sometimes feel!
Gratitude changes things. This approach dictates my whole outlook on life.
Everything begins with a thought – and we can control our thoughts. Let’s think thankful and experience the difference it makes.
